December 2008 The Escambia High School Tennis Team, a no-cut team, is asking for community support in their efforts to purchase lights for their practice courts. As you may be aware, high school athletic programs are severely under-funded due to the budgeting issues that challenge today's school systems. Forced to rely on the generosity of community partners to support their tennis team, the Gators have developed a new sign sponsorship program. November/December 2008 CONGRATULATIONS to Jennifer Pfeifler of Gulf Breeze, Florida for her outstanding results in the 2008 USTA National Open Boys and Girls 16 Tennis Tournament held at Roger Scott Tennis Center! November 2008 Portofino Island recently held the 1st Annual Men's Combo Invitational benefitting the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Sixteen men's doubles teams competed for the title with brothers, Bruce and Doug Patton of Pensacola winning the championship match over Rick Cuny and Shane Russell from Gulf Breeze. The event, lead by Michael Edge, Director of Tennis for Portofino, raised $2,500 for LAF.
