Dear ladies,
With the season coming up in a couple of weeks, we are about to get back on the courts. Let's make this season one of the best that we can have. I want to talk a little about sportsmanship. Yes, we all know to make good line calls. We understand that if we can't see that a ball is clearly out, it is in! I am talking about sportsmanship that deals with your teammates and captain. Always be a positive person for your team and captain.
A captain has a hard job trying to put together the match partnerships each week. Sometimes your captain gets no respect, so please be understanding when you have to play with Sally, who can't run.....or Dora, who can't even spell the word volley much less hit one! Once in a while everyone has to "take one for the team." Your captain is trying to please 8-16 ladies and make them all happy. I would rather run for president then try to please that many women! But yet your captain is given that task, and I know most of them try to do what is best for the team....not what's best for Sally or Dora. The team.
There is no perfect way to do that, so let's all be supportive, caring and understanding of our captains and teammates. We are all in this game together, now let's go have some fun!
