Arthur's Tennis Philosophy: Arthur's overall philosophy of his tennis programs is to develop sound techniques and instill the confidence, motivation and discipline it takes to reach a high level of tennis competition. He believes that through an aggressive and demanding program, excellence can be achieved where attitude and hard work are the main ingredients.

Did you know? Arthur was as an all state basketball player in South Carolina. Judge Extreme Akim on the TV show "Eye for an Eye" is his brother. Both of Arthur's brothers and one of his sisters all went to college on full tennis scholarships. He has a terrific wife and two tennis playing sons.

Arthur's Bio: Arthur Anastopoulo was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. As a tennis player, Arthur won numerous state championships both as a junior and as an adult. He was ranked in the top 10 junior tennis players in the United States and was ranked number 1 in the nation in the 21U division. He was awarded a full tennis scholarship, selected as team captain, and played number 1 for the University of South Carolina. He was an NCAA Division 1 Indoor Finalist and made three individual appearances at the NCAA Championships with an individual ranking as high as number 5. His performance on and off the court led him to be selected as an NCAA Division 1 All American, one of only two players ever to be selected from the state of South Carolina.

After graduation, Arthur began his tennis professional career with wins over 20 of the top 50 players in the world. With grandparents from Greece, Arthur was contacted by the Greek consulate to represent Greece on the national team while he was on tour. He quickly became the number 1 player in Greece, representing the Athens Club, and the number 1 Davis Cup player. After five years on the team, Arthur decided to leave the pro tour and concentrate on continuing his education, enrolling at the University of South Carolina Law School.

In 1984, Arthur became the Director of Tennis for the City of Charleston and then the City of Macon, Georgia. He planned and directed all aspects of a diversified tennis program. Throughout the years he has developed 57 individual state champions, 125 sectional champions and five national champions. During his tenure, 97 junior players have gone on to receive tennis scholarships. He has played in exhibitions with Andre Agassi, Ivan Lendl, Martina Navratilova, Jennifer Capriate, Stan Smith, John Newcome, John McEnroe, and Vitas Gerulaitis. He also hosted a weekly tennis tip segment on a local television station and has been a regular speaker at the National USPTA and USPTR conventions.
Arthur's sons in Greece
Arthur met his wife Vangie in 1984. They have been married for 22 years and have 2 sons who play on the tennis team at Gulf Breeze High School.

Arthur is an active member of the USPTA and USPTR. He has been honored with the key to the City of Charleson, SC, Pro of the Year in SC, and chosen as one of the top 25 directors in the nation by Reebok Sporting Goods.
