WHAT IS TAKE STOCK IN CHILDREN?
Take Stock in Children is a state-wide, not-for-profit program administered locally by the Santa Rosa Education Foundation. Our program provides scholarships, mentors and hope to deserving, low-income youth in Santa Rosa County. Students are identified in the sixth through ninth grades throughout our public schools. The selection process begins with an application submitted by the student. Information regarding the student's grades, test scores, attendance history and conduct, along with their application is then provided to The Take Stock in Children Leadership Council for review and selection into the program.
To be in the program, children must:
Be selected between sixth and ninth grade by guidance counselors and community representatives.
Maintain a C average in every class.
Exhibit good attendance and behavior in school.
Remain Drug and Arrest Free.
Meet with their Mentor once a week.
Have a financial need and be determined to have the ability to succeed.
Upon graduation from a Florida public high school, each student who has honored the Take Stock in Children commitment receives a two plus two (two years of community college and two years of university) tuition scholarship. Take Stock in Children sponsors give children in this community hope for the future and contribute to the future of our community.
Funds donated by businesses and individuals in the community for the purpose of funding scholarships are used 100% for scholarship purchases. Scholarship monies are matched dollar for dollar through the Florida Prepaid Foundation to provide scholarships to the students in our community. As a scholarship sponsor with Take Stock in Children, sponsors improve the quality of life for a child through education and invest our society's future.
Thank you very much for considering the Take Stock in Children Program.
