Welcome to Quick Start Tennis. QuickStart Tennis is a new format for junior players, ages 5 through-10 that has been jointly developed by the U.S. Tennis Association and the U.S. Professional Tennis Association. The format combines smaller courts sizes, foam or low compression balls, smaller racquets, lower nets, and modified scoring to allow the junior player to learn and play tennis simultaneously. These adaptations equal success for the junior player.
Ages 6-8: Court dimensions are reduced to 36'x18'. Net height is reduced to 2'9". Racquets generally are either 21" or 23". Balls used are foam to allow the bounce of the ball to be in the players' hitting zone.
Ages 9-10: Court dimension is shorted by 18" under a regulation court. Net height is regulation size. Racquets are generally 25". Balls used are low compression which more accurately mimics a regulation tennis ball, but travels a little slower and doesn't bounce quite as high.
